Vaca Day 1

B and I went on a little vacation a few weeks ago.  We went with friends to San Francisco and Napa. We had such a great time!  We actually did this exact trip for our first anniversary almost five years ago!  I am so bad at documenting trips.  This isn't a good thing since my memory is terrible!  I actually realized how bad it was on this trip because almost every place we went I realized I had been there five years ago but just didn't remember it!  I decided to try to document every second of this trip so the next time I go back I will know where to go and what to do!  I hope this helps you if you are planning a trip to wine country!

I am obsessed with American Airlines points.  I put every single thing on my credit card so I can get more points.  It's really pretty silly because I never use them!  This trip I finally got to cash them in!  The flights were almost impossible to book though!  I booked several months in advance too.  I finally found a flight out of Little Rock at 6am but it was first class.  I hated to use all those points but I thought I might as well splurge!  It's not like we take a lot of vacations!  So B and I drove to LR Tuesday night so we would be ready for our 6am flight on Wednesday. We stayed at a hotel by the airport that was pretty gross.  I got exactly an hour and a half of sleep!  Not the best way to start the trip.  I think I was so excited that my lack of sleep didn't even bother me!

I also forgot my makeup bag in Fayetteville.  B wouldn't let me turn around and get it.  Thank goodness Karrie was able to pick it up and bring it to me in Dallas.  I kept my sunglasses on for the first flight so I wouldn't scare anyone!  Oh and please note the photo bomber in our picture!  He was probably thinking, "What are those kids doing in first class?"

Well Mr, this is what we were doing!  We took full advantage of the reclining seats and free drinks!

and the view...

and I also took advantage of the peace and quiet!  I read two magazines and a book!  I love reading and that is one of the things I was most excited about! Free time to read without having to stop to change a diaper!

Post makeup bag pick-up!

We were all in SF by 10am! We dropped our bags off at the hotel and the girls went to have lunch and shop and the boys headed to a baseball game in Oakland!  We all wanted to try The Slanted Door but we knew we needed to try it without the boys.  So we went to lunch at Out The Door which is owned by the same people and was in the neighborhood we were shopping in!  It was very good!

I honestly can't even remember what we ordered! We ordered a lot of food to share!  Spring rolls, a shrimp and noodle dish, and maybe lemon chicken?  It was all very different but very good!

While we were eating, drinking, and shopping the boys were at the game!  They apparently had great seats!  It looks like they were practically in the dugout with the team!

Bethany and I took a shopping break to catch up on some reading!

After shopping around Fillmore street we decided to go back to Union square and shop around that area.  Our cab driver took us on the scenic route so we could see Lombard street.  It was pretty neat!  I can't imagine living on it though!

After a haul at H&M we went back to our hotel to get ready for dinner.  We stayed at the Clift hotel.  It's a pretty neat hotel in a great location.  The rooms were a little on the small side but the last time I stayed there my room was big!

The exterior of the hotel

The girls before dinner!

The concierge recommended this restaurant and we really liked it! The atmosphere was great.  The service was a little so so but they gave us a few rounds of drinks to make up for it!

I obviously didn't take these pictures!
This is the interior of the restaurant

This is the lounge area downstairs where we had drinks and appetizers before dinner.  The soft pretzels were delish!

The bar/lounge area downstairs

They had a drink called a "Little Ava"! I wanted to order it but it had raw egg in it and I just couldn't get over that! ha

So I went for something sparkly and egg free instead!

We had lots of time for pictures while we waited on our table!  I think our reservation was at 8pm and we finally sat down at 9:30!  Keep in mind I had an hour and a half of sleep the night before!

The boys in their plaid.  Every single shirt B brought on this trip was plaid! Maybe it's an Arkansas thing!

I took pictures of the food and now I can't remember what I even ordered.  I know I ordered mushroom soup because the waiter dropped it on our table and it exploded everywhere!  I think I ordered gnocchi too.  Maybe that's what this picture is....

Once again, no clue what this was...Maybe Karrie's food? ha I guess if I'm going to document a trip I should do a better job of taking notes! I think B ordered salmon and liked it.

Even though we had to wait forever to eat and they basically threw mushroom soup on our table the restaurant was very neat and the food was good.  I would definitely give it another try!

Just B being goofy in the lobby of the hotel!

I've been to San Francisco twice and both times it was for less than 24 hours.  Maybe next time I can stay a little longer and do a little more exploring!  It's a neat city.

Cell phone pics

Ava's first ponytail with a leopard Emi Jay hair tie of course!  ha

This week Ava had a slumber party at Gigi's and the boys and I went to cheer on daddy and the Wedington Liquor softball team!  We could only stay for one game but they did a great job and won both games!  Yahh Daddy!  The boys had lots of fun watching too!

I had shirts made for the babies.  I even had a shirt made for myself that says, "Manager"! ha I told B I was going to wear my shirt too and I think he got a little embarressed! He told me it might be a little cheesey if we are all dressed alike! I didn't care and wore my manager shirt proudly!

Their cousin Andrew is one of the stars of the team!  We yelled extra loud for him!

Nana and Poppy came to visit this week and Poppy put together a lot of their birthday presents!  The boys love their truck!  They ride in it together and Ava pushes them around the house!  It's pretty cute!
I don't think Knox was thrilled about sharing the front seat in this picture!

Friday night we went to the Greer's house for a cookout to celebrate Sarah and Allison's birthday!  Happy birthday friends! Knox went with Gigi to the baseball game and Brooks and Ava got to party with us!

B spent the majority of the night in this position catching the babies when they dove down the slide.  They LOVE bouncy houses!  I think we just need to buy them one of their own!

Having so much fun!

This was probably the five hundreth time she slid down the slide.  They both did it over and over again!

I should have taken a picture of Sarah's yard after the party!  There were toys everywhere!  Oh and TCBY cups!

Saturday the babies and I went to the last baseball game of the season!

Walker loves the babies and is such a big helper!

B got to stop by and say Hi too!  Just hanging out with his boys!

Ava sporting her new tattoo.  She might be wearing it for months because I can't get it off!

Harrison stopped by to say hi and meet the babies too! We missed you Beth Anne!

Happy Mothers Day!

I love mothers day! It might just be my new favorite holiday!  My family took good care of their mommy this year!

I texted B Saturday that I wanted new tennis shoes.  This was his response!
PS-He is obsessed with Amazon now and has ordered two new pairs of khaki shorts.  The total is up to 21 now... Ridiculous!

I got a new chair from B and the babies and one from Gigi! Thanks guys!

My sweet card from the babies.  I can't get use to my new name!  Every time I see "mom" or "mommy" I think it must be meant for Gigi! ha

I spent the day hanging out with family around the pool!  We ordered pizza and played with babies!  I couldn't have asked for a better day!

That night we went over to my dad's house for dinner.  The babies love playing with all of the toys!  Brooks was a little nervous on the tricycle though!

My dad has a mirror in his house on one of the walls and the babies spent a lot of time checking out their reflections.  Ava loves herself!  They really all do!  They gave themselves lots of kisses!

Knox wasn't so sure about Big the dinosaur that night.  I think it had more to do with the fact that it was almost an hour past his bedtime and he was a little cranky!

The food was so good!  Dad and Jenny outdid themselves!  Ava obviously thought so too!  I looked over and she had eaten all of her angel food cake and fruit and she was licking the plate!  Hilarious!

Oh and their house was completely destroyed when we left.  There were toys everywhere and the floor was covered in food!  We put a blanket down for the babies to eat on and set their plate down on the blanket and Ava immediately picked up the plate, dumped the food out, and hit brooks over the head with it! Stinker!

Recipes

I haven't cooked in so long but now that the babies are eating table food that has to change!  I like to cook but it is expensive and a lot of work!  Last week I planned out all of my meals and made a detailed grocery list.  I prepared a lot of things on Monday while Jennifer was watching the babies.  If I can do that every week I might be able to keep this up! I just don't have time to cook in the evenings and take care of the babies!  If I knew they would take a nap every afternoon that would be different!

Monday night B grilled steaks and I made herb oven fries, sauteed squash and zucchini with tomatoes and Parmesan and a grilled Caesar salad! The fries were a pinterest recipe and the squash is something my mom makes a lot that I just copied so I don't have a recipe for that.

This is the recipe for the salad!

I also made blueberry muffins for the babies!  I've never made homemade  blueberry muffins but these were really good and pretty easy to make!

I love spring or some people call them summer rolls but I've never made them.  My mom use to make them a lot with salmon and spinach.  I'm not a huge fan of salmon and I didn't have her recipe anyway so I kind of made up my own!  My summer rolls had shrimp, cabbage, spinach, cilantro, carrot, and asian rice noodles.  I also added a little hoison sauce for moisture!  They were good!

This recipe kind of explains the process of making them.

I served them with a hoison glazed salmon salad.  B gave it an A.  Not an A+ but getting an A from him is a pretty big deal!

The babies were big fans of the salmon too!

I also made Pioneer Woman's lasagna.  It is probably my favorite lasagna recipe I have found!  I always use slices of mozzarella cheese instead of shredded!  I think it makes a big difference!

I also made homemade chicken noodle soup.  I don't have a recipe for this I just kind of make it up as I go!  The babies liked this too!

Now if I could just keep this up!  I'm not off to a great start this week!
